Wingu Africa is pleased to announce that the leading provider of integrated telecommunication solutions in Oman, Omantel, has joined its ecosystem.

The signing ceremony for the new agreement took place yesterday in Muscat, Oman at the important annual Global Carrier Community event.  Under the agreement, Omantel will offer its wholesale services from the wingu.africa carrier-neutral data center in Djibouti. The services will commence next month.

The inclusion of Omantel in the wingu.africa ecosystem marks an important milestone for the data center as it facilitates the presence of global industry leaders in Africa through its growing network of open-access interconnected data centers across East Africa.

Omantel is the leading and main provider of integrated telecommunication solutions in Oman. From its point of presence in the wingu.africa ecosystem and data center, the company will expand its services and reach in Africa.

Local and international customers will now be able to access Omantel’s extensive wholesale services and subsea cable capacity, thereby growing their own customer bases and reach.

Commenting on the exciting news, Neill Nortje, Group Sales & Marketing Director, wingu.africa, noted that in choosing to partner with the wingu.africa facility, Omantel had taken into account the company’s experience in multiple markets in East Africa, dating back over a decade and that wingu.africa’s robust ecosystem guarantees its customers ease of doing business and excellent service levels.

Mr Demos Kyriacou, Deputy CEO, wingu.africa, added: “As wingu.africa we have known Omantel for many years and we are delighted that they are now a customer and we wish them great success.”

wingu.africa’s pioneering operations in Djibouti, the most connected location on the African continent, provide critical access for local enterprises and international clients.  wingu.africa is currently expanding across selected markets in East Africa and now has open-access data centers in four countries with further expansion plans already being implemented.

Through its network of purpose-built facilities in key East African markets wingu.africa is now able to provide clients with lower connection costs, better access and a powerful and growing commercial ecosystem.

With the welcome addition of Omantel’s presence in wingu.africa’s Djibouti data center, customers will be able to access the best options in terms of capacity and related services, such as cloud based solutions, providing a win/win outcome for all.
