Wingu Africa has received two honours at the TEHAMA Awards 2026, winning Best Technology Hub and Most Innovative Connectivity Solution at the awards gala held at Johari Rotana in Dar es Salaam on 9 August 2026.
The recognition comes as Wingu Africa continues to expand its digital infrastructure and connectivity capabilities in Tanzania, where it operates a carrier-neutral data centre in Dar es Salaam supporting enterprises, network operators and other participants in the digital ecosystem.
For Wingu Africa, the awards recognise its contribution to Tanzania’s technology and connectivity landscape and reinforce the company’s focus on providing secure, scalable and carrier-neutral infrastructure.
Huneid Ali, Country Director at Wingu Africa Tanzania, said the recognition reflects the team’s continued focus on building infrastructure that meets the needs of Tanzania’s businesses and digital ecosystem.
“These awards are a strong recognition of the work our team is doing in Tanzania. Businesses increasingly depend on reliable infrastructure and connectivity to operate, grow and deliver digital services. Our focus is on providing an environment where they can do that securely and efficiently.”
Wingu launched its Tanzania operations in 2022 and has since expanded its infrastructure footprint. In March 2025, the company launched the second phase of its Dar es Salaam data centre expansion, increasing available capacity and adding infrastructure designed to support growing demand for data centre and connectivity services.
The Tanzania facility provides carrier-neutral colocation and connectivity services, giving customers access to multiple network operators. Wingu Africa also works with the Tanzania Internet Service Providers Association (TISPA), with Internet Exchange Point connectivity extended to its Mbezi data centre. The facility provides access to major submarine cable systems, including SEACOM, EASSy and 2Africa.
The company’s regional strategy extends beyond colocation, with Wingu Africa providing cloud and connectivity services across its data centre footprint in Tanzania, Ethiopia and Djibouti.
Ali said the company would continue to focus on developing infrastructure that enables businesses and network providers to connect and scale.
“Tanzania has an important role to play in East Africa’s digital ecosystem, and we are committed to supporting that growth through resilient infrastructure, connectivity and cloud-enabled services. We are proud of what our Tanzania team has achieved and grateful to our customers and partners for the confidence they continue to place in Wingu Africa.”
Wingu Africa was represented at the TEHAMA Awards Gala Dinner by Huneid Ali, Country Director – Tanzania; Prasad Acharya, Director of Sales – Tanzania, and Henry Zakaria Nyiti, Sales Executive – International Carriers.
The Gala Dinner was officially opened by Hon. Angellah Jasmine Mbelwa Kairuki (MP), Minister for Communication and Information Technology, bringing together leaders and stakeholders from Tanzania’s ICT sector.
The two awards add to a period of continued development for Wingu Africa in Tanzania, following the expansion of its Dar es Salaam facility and the broader growth of its regional data centre and cloud infrastructure.
