Our Tanzania facility, operational since October 2022, serves a dynamic market experiencing consistent annual GDP growth of 5%. Through our partnership with TTCL/NICTBB, we provide comprehensive connectivity across all regions of Tanzania and Zanzibar, while also facilitating access to eight neighbouring countries including Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi.

The facility has attracted major telecommunications providers, with Vodacom, Tigo, Halotel, and Liquid Intelligent Technologies all establishing direct connections. Our collaboration with the Tanzania Internet Service Providers Association (TISPA) has enabled the extension of the Internet Exchange Point to our Mbezi data centre, significantly enhancing local internet performance and reducing costs for businesses across the region.

Local enterprises benefit from our carrier-neutral approach, which allows them to choose from multiple network providers and optimize their connectivity solutions. This flexibility, combined with our robust infrastructure, positions Tanzania as a key hub for digital innovation in East Africa.

Data centre features

Connectivity

The facility offers redundant connectivity via 11 major cable systems and simplified, structured interconnects for flexible, high-availability connections throughout the data centre.

Physical infrastructure

The facility uses secure 42U racks with added depth for airflow and cable management, featuring perforated doors for 86% airflow and individually locked cabinets.

Infrastructure & service

Wingu offers colocation in managed areas or private cages, with flexible network operator choices and uninterrupted service through regular maintenance.

Power

The local municipality supplies power. Any power failures will be restored without interruption by the site’s UPS and generators, ensuring customers enjoy uninterrupted power, 100% of the time.

Security

We have comprehensive perimeter and building security in place with 24/7 guarding. Pre-authorisation is required for data centre access. A visitor’s identity is visually confirmed, with additional biometric confirmation.

Environment

The facility features multiple cooling zones with independent HVAC, maintaining temperatures between 22°C and 25°C and continuous monitoring of temperature and humidity.

Fire protection

We have proactive fire monitoring systems incorporating best practice fire protection and prevention procedures. The center is designed for a 120/120/120 fire rating for integrity, containment and insulation.

Cabling for single and multimode fibre, Cat 6 UTP or GPO copper can be arranged.
