Wingu Group, East Africa’s leading carrier-neutral data center operator is proud to announce the official inauguration of the TO7 Technology Park, a transformative project aimed at reinforcing Djibouti’s position as a key player in East Africa’s digital economy. The opening ceremony was honored by the presence of His Excellency, Mr Ismail Omar Guelleh, President of the Republic of Djibouti, Ministers of State, Ambassadors, and other distinguished local and international guests.
The park is home to a state-of-the-art Tier 3 Carrier-Neutral Data Center, a Cable Landing Station facilitating high-speed international data transfers, and an Innovation Center to nurture local tech talent and entrepreneurship.
The Tier 3 Data Center offers unmatched reliability with 99.982% uptime, supporting critical services for businesses and governments. The Cable Landing Station strengthens Djibouti’s strategic position, connecting Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, and enhancing its role as a global telecommunications hub. The Innovation Center fosters a thriving startup ecosystem with collaborative workspaces and access to cutting-edge technology.
This initiative is expected to create jobs, develop technical skills, and attract foreign investments, driving both economic and technological growth. The TO7 Technology Park is poised to play a crucial role in the country’s digital transformation, with long-term benefits for sectors like education, healthcare, and business.
“We are excited to witness the launch of the TO7 Technology Park, which will serve as a catalyst for Djibouti’s digital economy” said Nicholas Lodge, Co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer at Wingu. “This park not only provides world-class infrastructure but also fosters innovation, job creation, and economic growth. It is an important step toward positioning Djibouti as a leader in the global tech space, and we are proud to be part of this journey.”
Wingu is committed to supporting Djibouti’s vision of becoming a regional ICT hub, and we look forward to collaborating with local and international partners to become a part of the thriving digital ecosystem. The new data center complements Wingu’s existing data center in Djibouti which has been operating successfully for over a decade and brings for the first time an integrated carrier-neutral facility incorporating both data center and cable landing station; ideally suited to modern cable systems which require open-access and seamless interconnectivity.
