The Opportunity
Wingu is looking for an experienced Data Centre Manager to take operational leadership of our data centre operation in Djibouti. This is a key site leadership role for someone who understands mission-critical environments, takes ownership when issues arise, and can bring together people, critical infrastructure, customers, vendors and supporting functions to keep operations safe, reliable and ready for growth. You will lead today’s operations while strengthening the team and building the operational capability needed for the future.
What you will own
Operational leadership: Lead the safe, reliable and effective operation of Wingu’s data centre operation in Djibouti, ensuring 24/7 operational readiness and strong standards of availability, safety and security.
Critical infrastructure: Oversee the performance, preventive maintenance, capacity and condition of critical infrastructure, identifying risks and future needs before they affect operations.
Incident leadership: Take the lead during major incidents and emergencies, coordinating the right people, communicating clearly and driving issues through to service restoration and closure.
Cross-functional delivery: Coordinate and drive resolution of operational issues and dependencies across Data Centre Services, Technical Infrastructure, and supporting functions, escalating where necessary and ensuring actions are not left unresolved.
People leadership: Build a capable and accountable NOC team through clear priorities and KPIs, regular feedback, coaching, cross-training and knowledge sharing.
Customer operations: Ensure new customer deployments are operationally ready and that operational commitments, issues and escalations are managed effectively.
Operational resilience and compliance: Strengthen emergency readiness, continuity arrangements, operational risk management, documentation and audit follow-up.
Partners and improvement: Hold vendors and contractors accountable for safe, quality delivery while continuously improving operational and environmental performance.
What success looks like

- Remaining calm, organised and decisive during incidents and periods of operational pressure.
- Identifying risks and constraints early and acting before they affect service
- Building a team that learns, shares knowledge and is not dependent on one individual
- Working effectively across functions and locations, sharing learning and building strong relationships with colleagues, customers, vendors and partners
What you bring (Essential)
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Data Centre Operations or another relevant technical field.
- A qualification in Operations Management or Business Administration may also be considered where supported by substantial relevant experience in data centre or mission-critical infrastructure operations.
- At least 3 years’ experience in data centre operations, critical infrastructure, telecommunications infrastructure or a comparable mission-critical technical environment.
- At least 2 years’ experience in a management or team leadership role.
- Working knowledge of critical data centre infrastructure, including power, cooling, core networks, structured cabling, server and storage environments.
- The ability to lead technical teams, coordinate across functions and manage priorities in a 24/7 operational environment.
- Strong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- The confidence to take ownership, escalate when necessary and drive issues to resolution.
- Fluency in French and sufficient professional English to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, across Wingu’s regional operations.
Advantageous
- Knowledge of regional languages.
- Experience in a colocation data centre environment.
- Telecommunications operations experience.
- Experience supporting multiple or remotely managed sites.
- Exposure to data centre design or cloud environments.
- One or more relevant professional certifications, such as CDFOMM, CDCP, CCNA/CCNP Data Centre, JNCIP-DC, or an equivalent recognised data centre, critical facilities, network or infrastructure certification.
Why join Wingu Africa?
- This is an opportunity to take responsibility for Wingu’s Data Centre operation in Djibouti and make a visible contribution to its performance and future development
- You will work with experienced colleagues across Wingu, help solve real operational challenges, share knowledge across teams and locations, and build the people and operational capability needed as the business develops
- If you meet the essential requirements and believe your experience can transfer successfully to this mission-critical Data Centre environment, we encourage you to apply
